Paul Hastings invites you to join us for a complimentary roundtable discussion that will focus on how the latest regulatory enforcement on Novartis Korea has affected the Korean pharmaceutical industry, as well as providing a general view of the recent industry developments in the U.S.

폴 헤이스팅스(Paul Hastings)는 최근에 이루어진 노바티스 코리아(Novartis Korea)에 대한 관계 당국의 법 집행이 한국 제약 산업에 끼친 영향 및 미국 내 제약 산업의 최근 동향에 대해 논의할 좌담회에 귀하를 초청합니다.

We will address the latest recent developments regarding criminal and civil investigations in the pharmaceutical industry, including the recent KRW 55.1 billion (approximately US$48 million) fine on Novartis Korea for paying improper benefits to Health Care Professionals.

이번 좌담회에서는 의료 종사자들에게 부적절한 혜택을 제공한 점을 이유로 노바티스 코리아에게 부과된 551억원 (약 4,800만 달러)의 과징금을 포함하여 제약 산업에 대한 민형사상 조사 및 수사의 최신 동향을 다룰 것입니다.

Given the strong working relationships between Korean and U.S. law enforcement authorities, it has become advisable for pharmaceutical companies to look proactively into their operations in order to identify potential risks and implement timely remedial actions. Therefore, we will discuss parallel investigations with the U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and recent enforcement actions against pharmaceutical companies.

한국과 미국 사법 당국 간의 긴밀한 협력 관계를 감안할 때, 제약 회사들로서는 내부의 잠재적 위험 파악을 위해 적극적으로 업무 현황에 대한 검토를 수행하고, 이에 대한 시기적절한 개선책을 마련하고 이행하는 것이 보다 중요한 상황이 되어 가고 있습니다. 따라서 이번 좌담회에서는 미국 법무부 (DOJ) 및 미국 증권거래위원회(SEC)의 병렬 수사 및 제약 회사를 상대로 한 최근의 법률 집행 조치들에 대해서도 소개해 드릴 예정입니다.

The discussion will be led by Mr. Kwame Manley, a partner in the Investigations and White Collar Defense practice in the D.C. Office and a former U.S. federal prosecutor. Mr. Nicholas Ahn and Mr. Han Kyu Lee, associates in the firm’s Korea Practice Group, will also join the discussion.
